When you started talking about having LANfest in the gaming cave with personal butlers, all I could see in my head was the South Park WOW episode, where they camp in Cartman's basement to level up all weekend, with Cartman yelling at his mother to fetch food, drinks, and even to put a bucket under his seat as he couldn't get up to go to the bathroom.

I'm afraid I can never think about the cave again!

Oh, and Jennifer is correct. The Amstrad CPC 464, the ZX Spectrum, and the Commodore 64 all used cassette tapes to store their games. (Of course we “never” copied these games onto a blank cassette that would then end up being used on our friend's computer!)

The Amstrad owner is Sir Alan Sugar. He is the top man in the UK version of The Apprentice. I think you have the same show with Donald Trump in the US.

A few more comments, which you're free to leave off the podcast since it's just an after-the-fact from the previous one:

- The confusion issues involving Fallout where Interplay and Bethesda were concerned? Wasn't so much the marketing artwork, which in Interplay's case didn't really change much at all from their original stuff from the late 90's. The problem was that Interplay was calling their old Fallout bundle "The Fallout Trilogy" (because it came with three games: Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. ':P) The confusion was in having people mistakenly think that the Fallout Trilogy contained Fallout 3, which of course was not the case. (Before I'd even heard of the lawsuit, I thought this was a rather shady tactic on Interplay's part. Which I'm sure is why they opted not to clear it w/ Bethesda.)

- I think you could be a pirate in "Pirates!" if you so chose, but it would involve siding with the pirates in the game, and turning on your initial investor(s). This was a rather suicidal choice, but an allowable one nevertheless. (I've never done it; or rather, I've never played through the game this way, and have always reloaded the game after betraying the Spanish, or whoever it may have been.) Especially since you'd have to sneak your way into any cities at that point. (Note: I can't actually vouch for the original 1987 version. This may have just been the "Pirates! Gold" edition from the very early 90's. Not to be confused with Firaxis' 3D-rendered version from the 21st century, which I think was just called "Pirates!" again. Which also lets you be an outright pirate.)

Welcome to the early edition of the gaming podcast, because I'm going to be in Germany this week we had to record a bit early and post the podcast for listening. Hopefully this won't screw up too many people's schedules with a day-early release! This week we're flashing back to Sid Meier's Pirates and learning about women's rights (or lack of) in the life of a privateer. We'll talk a bit about the history of the Amstrad CPC 464 and cover some news:

The community questions were great, gave us lots of nice ideas for a future gaming cave! This week we're riding on the community listener, Onyersix who wrote a good question of the week: "What was the scariest moment you ever experienced playing video games? We're talking the type of shock that makes you need to go and put on a new pair of pants!"

Hey, did you notice our new microphone quality, Jennifer and I have upgraded our studio setup (by about $1,000!), hopefully you'll notice the more dynamic vocal qualities.
