This weeks gaming podcast, we’re flashing back to Trade Wars and the Teleplay Modem while learning a bit about our communities ideas about video gaming in prison. We’re checking out a few news tidbits for the week:

  • PlayStation 3 has been hacked
  • Microsoft plagued by another class action lawsuit
  • Nintendo giving their opinion of the iPad
  • Gamestop COO wants to educate customers about DLC
  • Metal Gear Solid Head developer not happy with delay

This week we’re asking the question: Is it acceptable for older people to play games and when did this become socially acceptable for adults to be gamers?

In final fantasy XII i used to play as a female cuz the female characters are pretty lolz & I generally played as the healer/Buffer. I formed a strategy playing as a mage using the spells to make the other 2 characters berserk ( str raised + Higher Crit chance + character uncontrollable). Then I would try keep my character away from danger casting spells to keep my buddy’s buffed & most importantly alive. The battle system is sweet cuz its turn based but while u are thinking of ur moves the enemy is still attacking, improving quick decision making. Final Fantasy 12 even though I don’t play it any more is great in all aspect far as I’m concerned ( + the ability to program your characters is awesome eg. Lower than 20% heath heal urself or encountering fire enemies use water attacks. This speeds up the game play). So u can tell I have big expectations on FFXIII.

Thx for Casting

Cheers

This is in response to the question of the week.  Of course it is acceptable for older people to play games.  Most of the older gamers nowadays were the very kids who played games (thanks to their loving understanding parents) when this all began.  Some people enjoy sports, others prefer booze, gambling, etc…while people like us enjoy games.  There is nothing wrong with that.

When the time comes that we become senior citizens, i'm pretty sure we'll still be playing games (and probably be playing Universe of Warcraft or something similar with our VR helmets) and gaming will be universally accepted.  Games will become the golf of our generation when that time comes.
