I love this quote:
Asked the extent of his guilt, our source was unwilling to provide concrete details. “There was some [wrongdoing],” he admitted. But over the course of a brief telephone conversation, he remained adamant that the punishment did not suit the crime.
Name me one wrong doer who would readily admit, “Yeah, I got what was coming to me. I think this was a well worth penalty for my badness.” C'mon.
Without details in either direction you can't really say who was in the right and who wasn't. But, we do know the person that did something bad has admitted to “something” that they did wrong. Based on facts, I've got this:
1. They did something wrong
2. They received a suggested punishment
3. They accepted said punishment agreed upon by the court.
Perhaps the punishment was too severe. But, ya know what… STOP DOING BAD THINGS. I've got no sympathy for someone that breaks the law and expects a certain style of punishment. Stop breaking laws to avoid it.
If it was an innocent person convicted of a crime they didn't do, then that's another story.
