Y'know, when I first heard that “Cannon Fodder” was your Gaming History, I said out loud, “Gaming history? I have a demo of that on a CD-ROM somewhere, so it can't be that old!”

To which my wife replied, “Well, it was 15 years ago.”

My jaw hung open in mild shock at that realization.

I'm gonna be a nostalgia-prone curmudgeon any day now…

I got used to that feeling? It happens a lot… seems like Myst was just out the other day, I still remember, vividly, Super Mario Bros and still feel the excitement from my first time playing Zelda and Punch-Out.

I feel sad my kids won't grow up with the same experience. While they can still experience Rolf the Rednose Reindeer from 1964, Scooby Doo, Underdog, Tom and Jerry and so many others – movies and cartoons live on forever while video games seem to fade away into the recesses of our own minds.

Unfortunate. Even with emulation, they'll never really experience these games the same as we did.
