TD Gaming Podcast 199: Now In Quad

This week we’ve got four folks on the show, including Jonah Falcon who will soon take over the reins from Don as the third host of the gaming podcast. This week we’ve got a bit of user comments (a few didn’t make it as they were stuck in my queue, hopefully next week) and we’re flashing back to Food Fight while hitting up news:

Question of the Week: What did you buy on Black Friday?

  1. @Update: Kinect Sales Surpass 2.5M
    What’s interesting is, how many of them are sold to be used on PC? I mean rumor is (:P) that MSFT is not too happy with the open source driver being developed … I guess it hits a bit the 360 …
    As for games, how about Mario?

    @Xbox Live TV?
    … dunno. Thing is, I don’t see the demand for it. But again, I also don’t see the need for Netflix. I see how TiVo solves a problem, but Netflix, or XBox TV, or Google TV? Dunno.
    Anyway, since the XBox already has a network in place, I guess they can give it a shot.

    @Axl Rose Suing Activision for $20M
    lol, and all on account of Slash ditching him for another band πŸ˜€
    Loved how you guys covered it πŸ™‚
    If I’m not mistaking, the issues between the two goes to Velvet Revolver playing an unreleased song from Guns’n’Roses …

    @Music Games Down 75% since 2008
    It was a fad. Didn’t see the need for it. Now it’s over.

    @Sega Wipes Sonic 4 Leaderboards
    Fail … So it’s better to wipe out the high scores for ALL people rather than provide a patch, then remove the obviously hacked scores.
    Now, what would be the reaction if Valve would do the same thing?

    Google docs is neat, it allows sharing documents very easy. Wave is not so good, the discussion can have plenty of branches, which makes it hard to follow.

    @Question of the Week:
    Nothing. We don’t do Thanksgiving in Romania. I know, Black Friday has nothing to do with the holiday, but no holiday – no reason to drop prices.
    And to be frank, here things go the other way around: when the winter holidays come, prices go up.

    Loved the editing work done for when Derrick and Jennifer “went to the dark side”.

  3. @ QotW

    Although not on the actual Friday, I took advantage of a couple of specials as part of week long sales. One of these offers was Age Of Empires 3 with both expansions for 10 cents of the new Microsoft’s games for windows marketplace. I guess they finally did act upon their promises and 10 cents is one he’ll of a great bargain. I spent the rest of the day working out how much everything else I spent money on was worth in terms of copies of AoE3. (lunch = 98 copies, a 600ml coke = 34 copies etc.).

    On a side note, Really enjoyed last episode. Was excellent having 4 contributors and Jonah’s input seemed very insightful. Also congratulations for 200 episodes.

  5. @ Don’s purchase of minecrack. Great game, have been playing it since February and cannot see myself stopping anytime especially as multiplayer is almost as fully featured as singleplayer now. Just a tip for beginning out in the world: check out the crafting page on the minecraft wiki. Being in alpha still, the game is pretty unhelpful to new players, but the wiki lists all the crafting recipes to help you survive.

  7. “You don’t celebrate Christmas in Turkey?”

    No, here in Romania we celebrate the Christmas in Pig πŸ˜‰
    Seriously, there’s a tradition here that when Christmas comes we slaughter pigs.

    Anyway, there’s quite some time between Black Friday and Christmas, so, no holiday in Romania. And, as I said, a lot of retailers increase their prices during the holidays πŸ™ …
