This month seems to be full of conferences, as Nintendo Direct was streamed the previous week, BlizzCon 2021 aired this week, and Sony’s State of Play is due next week. The announcement of Diablo II Remastered was only the highlight of the BlizzCon show.

The news this week includes:

  • BlizzCon 2021 announcements
  • Xbox will reportedly hold an event related to Bethesda next month
  • Skullgirls 2nd Encore’s new fighter Annie out in March
  • Stardew Valley: The Board Game sells out in one day
  • Watch Dogs: Legion‘s online mode is coming in March
  • Minecraft Dungeons ‘Flames of the Nether’ arrives alongside a free endgame update

The Xbox 360 saw a huge jump last week with Tales of Vesperia from Namco Bandai, but has dropped back down to normal sales (about none). Some are saying it’s mainly because of a short supply as the 360 sold out in Japan as a result of Tales of Vesperia.

In other news, the PlayStation 3 still isn’t selling very well, a bit more than the PlayStation 2 but nothing like the PSP. The DS holds the record yet again, no surprise there, but we always though the 360 was losing to the Wii and PS3. Although the Wii isn’t doing bad it’s not at the same crazy sales pace it is here in the United States.

The drop in sales for the 360 was fast, hopefully it was indeed due to out-of-stock issues, else that drop was faster than the drops we’ve seen here for GTA IV or MGS4!

There’s a ton of discussions, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming will reportedly let players stream any game in their library from November, Russia straight-up bans Discord for enabling ‘terrorist and extremist purposes’, Killing Floor 3‘s dynamic tech makes zed heads ‘flower’ when you shoot them, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will get a Nuketown map, Brazil lifts ban on X following Elon Musk’s compliance with Supreme Court orders, the DOJ may break up Google, Terrifier 3 (the indie horror film that managed to make 10x its budget while Joker: Folie à Deux flails in the water) is getting a videogame, the current head of Xbox Game Studios, Alan Hartman, is to retire at the end of November, with Rare studio boss Craig Duncan taking over and the official Nintendo Museum appears to be emulating SNES games on a Windows PC, which is slightly embarrassing.

  • Legendary game designer Jordan Weisman’s next project is an open world deck-building pirate romance tactical RPG
  • Red Dead Redemption coming to PC later this month
  • Former Bethesda and BioWare devs are making a Stardew-like with Redwall animals (from PC Gamer)
