This week we’re one person down, but we’re carrying the torch anyway. This gaming podcast covers the latest news, hits up a flashback of Qix and digs into the history of Taito. We’ve got some great comment this week from ipod gaming to console generation predictions. This weeks news includes:

We’re also going to hold a little contest to give away to copies of Plants vs. Zombies from popcap. Listen to the gaming podcast for the details! We want to thank all the folks who wrote in and cheftafoya for some of the news articles.

Question of the week? Are you going to sign up for hte Starcraft II beta on hype alone…?

First I would just like to say you have a great show.  Keep up the good work.  Now that the butt kissing is done please enter me into the running for Plants vs. Zombies.  Tongue out  Bought Peggle on your recommendation so PvZ sounds like a great time for me and my kids.

Question of the week? Are you going to sign up for hte Starcraft II beta on hype alone…?  I never played Starcraft I, but I will be signing up for beta of Starcraft II.  Why you ask?  Blizzard is the shizzle and to be part of something they make would be an honor.

This is related to an earlier episode, but here goes anyway.  I see the future of console gaming adding concepts that Apple and the iDevices use.  Such as an app store or someother place that regular folks can create and add content.  Sort of the way my original Xbox is used.  True you had to mod it to get homebrew software, but I believe this is were some of the best content originates.  Just think of a next gen console with an app store.  I also think this would be a selling point for all of us who have a console and do not want to upgrade for the sake of upgrading.  If some great app was created that my current console lacks, but I wish it had, this might push me over the edge.

Not sure if you did the Bard's Tale as a flashback, but I would love to hear it.  If you already did, point me to the podcast.

When the Duke Nukem news swept through Twitter, I saw some fans begging for it to be open sourced so the fans could finish it (kind of like what Phoenix Online Studios is doing with King's Quest, The Silver Lining).  I certainly doubt it'll happen, but I'd be curious to see if the fans could succeed where the devs failed.
