World of Warcraft 3.0.2 Update – Live!

Echo’s of Doom will be live when the systems come back for maintenance. WorldofWarcraft.com was down for a bit today, probably to revamp and push the Lich King messages (which now splash the homepage prior to landing).

This patch brings a crap ton of content to the game including a lot of the lich king updates for character classes, user interface changes, calendar and other crazy awesome stuff. When you start the client, now, you’ll notice the front screen has changed to promote the Lich King content; it now resembles the client for all those in the beta.

The only downfall to the beta will be, once again, re-distributing your talent points. It’s free, so now is your time to re-spec and get ready for battling death knights in our near future!

Check out the full 3.0.2 Echo’s of Doom patch.

  1. Old news, but if someone still needs a death knight guide to get going in the WotLK expansion (see linked website), you can drop me an e-mail and I’ll supply you with a free (legal) copy.

Almost Three Million Lose Life To Lich KingAlmost Three Million Lose Life To Lich King

Wrath of the Lich King is the fastest selling game of all time beating the old champion: Burning Crusade. Believe it or not, Blizzard is saying 2.8-million people picked up the expansion to World of Warcraft and are currently sitting at home forgetting to eat their dinner in the first 24-hours of launch.

This probably doesn’t come as any surprise to Burning Crusade owners, but think on this… you can’t play Wrath of the Lich King without the core game and the Burning Crusade expansion. New adopters of the WoW haze will be investing a good deal of money, before monthly charges, to get into the full experience of Lich King.

The original Burning Crusade expansion sold 2.4-million copies in the first 24-hours, in some ways this is disappointing because their was only a minor influx in this new expansion. It’s hard to complain about epic sales on a game expansion, what other title can boast number so high for an expansion pack?

The real question is, how many gamers have taken days off of work to get their Death Knights to level 80 first?

This week’s episode is a little late thanks to unforeseen circumstances, but nothing will stop us from posting new episodes. It’s actually one day late, since last week was a week off, thanks to Podbean limits and Halloween. On that note, this week, Jonah had to erase a spoiler segment about The Force Awakens, but enough remains of the convo discussing other parts of the upcoming movie.

This week’s news:

  • Sony not to offer backwards compatibility
  • Advertising Standards Authority rules Valve misled customers with Grand Theft Auto V Steam Sale
  • The Witcher movie slated for 2017
  • Ubisoft admits poor Syndicate sales are due to franchise fatigue caused by Unity
  • World of Warcraft paid subscribers at a nine year low at 5.5M

The Question of the Week is what we usually ask ourselves, but with all the new games coming out, “What have you been playing this week?”
