This week we’ve refrained from beating baby seals to do a gaming podcast. Whatever that means, we’re busting through some great community feedback, cranking through the history of Boulder Dash, mashing through the game history on G.O.D – Gathering of Developers while hitting up the game news of the week:

  • Portal 2 has been announced
  • Ubisoft’s new DRM fails (big surprise)
  • Ubisoft’s DRM cracked
  • Steam Coming to the Mac
  • Microsoft looking for a 360 motherboard designer

This weeks question of the week, what world environment would you like to see your favorite game sequel take place in?

Final Fantasy XIII

I can’t believe I’m saying this but so far FFXIII is a bad game. Don’t get me wrong the game has amazing visual, so far the best cut scenes I’ve seen on the Xbox. The art work and rendering if nothing but incredible. BUT although I’ve only played 3-4hrs of the game (released yesterday). The game play is tedious, I don’t enjoy playing at all. Here are so points.

1. There is no exploration at all the game path it’s so linear. It doesn’t seem like you have another world to explore just this 5m wide path that keeps moving forward.

2. Although there is some great character designs the battle system is boring and repetitive.

3.The story so far isn’t very deep or very interesting. But IGN gives it credit for story so I’ll wait.

The truth is the only reason why I keep grinding through the game play is to see the next beautiful engineered cut scenes and also that I had such huge expectations formed by its pre successors.

The game set me back $120 AUD and currently not filling the big boots Square Enix has forged in the decades. They need to realize there is more to a game then great visuals or they should have made another movie.

Cheers
